// how it works
Google and AI now share
one gatekeeper: legibility.
Getting found used to mean ranking on Google. Now it also means being readable to ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews. Rankport scores both in a single number, then tells you exactly what to fix.
- One score
- 0 to 100. Covers SEO + AEO together.
- Four checks
- Crawlability, Structure, AI answers, Performance.
- Plain-English fixes
- Ranked by impact. Auto-delivered on schedule.
// the metric
The Legibility Score
We coined the term because no existing metric measures this. A Legibility Score is a weighted 0-100 composite: how accessible your site is to every reader that matters, whether that reader is a person on Google, a bot building a search index, or an AI assembling an answer.
A score above 85 means your content is being seen everywhere it should be. Below 70, you have gaps that are costing you traffic today.

// what we check
Three layers of classic SEO. One layer of AEO.
Most of what drives legibility is not new. Crawlability, structure, and performance have been core SEO for a decade. The new piece is the AI-specific layer: whether answer engines can actually parse your content, not just reach it.
We run all four together because a perfect crawl score with an unreadable pricing page still means ChatGPT cannot cite your product when someone asks.
Can search engines and AI bots actually access every page? We check robots.txt, redirects, canonical tags, and sitemap coverage.
Is the page hierarchy clear? Heading order, unique titles, schema markup, and alt text tell both Google and AI what each page is about.
The AEO layer: can ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI actually parse your content? Images of text, JavaScript-only renders, and iframe embeds all score zero here.
Core Web Vitals matter for Google ranking and for whether a slow page gets abandoned before AI can index it. LCP, CLS, and TTFB are all in scope.
// machine vision
AI reads text. Not pixels.
The panel here shows a real example: a pricing page that looks complete to a human visitor. To an AI, two of the five elements are completely invisible. The pricing table is a PNG. The FAQ is a JavaScript widget. Both score zero.
Rankport renders a machine-view of every audited page so you can see exactly what an AI crawler finds. No guessing: each region is marked readable or invisible with the reason.
// the deliverable
A plain-English report. On a schedule.
A one-off score is interesting. A monthly report that tracks your progress and surfaces new issues before they compound is a product. Rankport runs your audit automatically, weekly or monthly, and sends you a report each time.
Every report is the same structure: your current Legibility Score, what changed since last time, and the top fixes ranked by estimated point impact. No jargon, no dashboards required.
